Before you send money
A wrong IBAN can send your money to the wrong person. It can be hard to get the money back.
This tool does not make an IBAN from an account number. Ask your bank for the IBAN. You can find it in the bank app, on the bank statement, or from the branch.
The check shows only that the IBAN is written correctly. It does not show that the account exists, or that it belongs to the person you mean. Check the name of the receiver before you send.
Do you need the date of the transfer in the Hijri calendar? Try the Hijri date converter. To write the amount of the transfer in Arabic words, use the Tafqeet tool.
How to use it
- Type or paste the Egyptian IBAN in the box.
- Read the result, then the bank code, the branch code and the account number in the parts.
- Copy the IBAN in groups of four.
- Before you send money, check the name of the receiver in your bank app.
What are the parts of an Egyptian IBAN?
The table shows the parts of the published example. After the check digits come the bank code (4 digits), the branch code (4 digits) and the account number (17 digits).
The Central Bank of Egypt calls the bank code and the branch code together the bank ID. After the letters EG, an Egyptian IBAN has digits only.

Questions
How many digits does an Egyptian IBAN have?
It has 29 characters: EG, two check digits, the bank code (4 digits), the branch code (4 digits) and the account number (17 digits).
How do I find the bank in an Egyptian IBAN?
The bank code is the fifth to the eighth digit. We show a bank name for codes that the bank or the central bank confirms. Other codes show as a code only.
What is the branch code in an Egyptian IBAN?
It is the ninth to the twelfth digit. It shows the branch of the bank that opened the account.
Can I make the IBAN from the account number?
This tool does not do that. A mistake in an IBAN can send the money to another person. Ask your bank, in the bank app, on the statement, or at the branch.
What do the check digits mean?
They are the third and fourth characters. They come from the rest of the number with the ISO 7064 method, so the tool finds most typing errors.
