We show a bank name only for codes that the bank or the central bank confirms. Other codes show as they are, with no name.

Type or paste an IBAN. The tool checks its length, its characters and its check digits. It shows the parts in groups of four to copy.

Before you send money

A wrong IBAN can send your money to the wrong person. It can be hard to get the money back.

This tool does not make an IBAN from an account number. Ask your bank for the IBAN. You can find it in the bank app, on the bank statement, or from the branch.

The check shows only that the IBAN is written correctly. It does not show that the account exists, or that it belongs to the person you mean. Check the name of the receiver before you send.

Do you need the date of the transfer in the Hijri calendar? Try the Hijri date converter. To write the amount of the transfer in Arabic words, use the Tafqeet tool.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste the IBAN in the box. Spaces and small letters are fine.
  2. Read the result: correct, or the reason for the mistake and where it is.
  3. Copy the IBAN in groups of four, or with no spaces.
  4. Before you send money, check the name of the receiver in your bank app.

What are the parts of an IBAN?

An IBAN starts with two letters for the country. Then come two check digits. Then comes the local account number (BBAN), which has the bank code.

The length of an IBAN is not the same in each country. A Saudi IBAN has 24 characters. An Egyptian IBAN has 29.

The two check digits come from the rest of the number, with an international method. If one letter or digit changes, they do not match.

Questions

How do I check an IBAN?

Type the IBAN in the box above. The tool checks the length, the characters and the check digits (the third and fourth characters). Then it shows the result.

How many characters are in a Saudi and an Egyptian IBAN?

A Saudi IBAN has 24 characters and starts with SA. An Egyptian IBAN has 29 characters and starts with EG.

Does a correct IBAN mean the account exists?

No. The check shows only that the IBAN is written correctly. It does not show that the account exists or who owns it. Check the name in your bank app before you send money.

Where do I find my IBAN?

Look in the bank app, on the bank statement, or ask the branch. Do not try to make it from the account number. A mistake can send the money to another person.

What if the check digits are wrong?

Most often it is a typing error. Compare the IBAN with the one in your bank app, one character at a time, or copy it from there.

Does the tool send my IBAN to a server?

No. The check runs in your browser and the IBAN does not leave your device. The tool sends one anonymous count that does not hold the IBAN.
